Diwali💣

This year, Diwali was celebrated on the Nov. 13th of the Roman calendar. Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists and is an important celebration as it celebrates victory of good over evil and light over darkness.

The following is a brief version of a very long story of how and why northern Hindus celebrate Diwali. In north India, Hindus follow the legend of Lord Rama and his wife Sita's return home after 14 years in exile and also of Lord Rama's epic battle with the demon King Rawan, whom he kills.

Navaratri💥

Navaratri is a nine night festival that honors the Mother Goddess Durga, in all her manifestations. Durga is the warrior form of Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva (the powerful destroyer/transformer of the universe). Hindu mythology says she took on the form of Durga to destroy demon Mahishasura, and is thus considered to be the protective mother who battles evil forces. The festival culminates with Dussehra, a celebration of victory of good over evil, on the tenth day.

There are actually four different Navaratri festivals throughout the year in India. However, Sharad Navaratri is the most popular one. This festival takes place in late September, or early October, each year. The dates of the festival are determined according to the Hindu lunar calendar.

                                   Ganesh chaturthi💫

Ganesh Chaturthi (ISOGaṇeśa Chaturthī), also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi (Vināyaka Chaturthī), is a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati/Gauri. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesh clay idols privately in homes, or publicly on elaborate pandals .

The distinction between the Ganesh Jayanti and the more popular, almost pan-Indian Ganesh Chaturthi festival is that the latter festival is observed in the month of August/September

krishna janmashtami😍

Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. It is observed according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in Shraavana or Bhadrapad (depending on whether the calendar chooses the new moon or full moon day as the last day of the month), which overlaps with August or September of the Gregorian calendar.

It is an important festival, particularly in the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism.Dance-drama enactments of the life of Krishna according to the Bhagavata Purana , devotional singing through the midnight when Krishna was born, fasting, a night vigil , and a festival on the following day are a part of the Janmashtami celebrations.

                                                    Durga puja

Durga puja is an old tradition of Hinduism, though its exact origins are unclear. Surviving manuscripts from the 14th—century provide guidelines for Durga puja, while historical records suggest that the royalty and wealthy families were sponsoring major Durga puja festivities since at least the 16th-century.

The prominence of Durga puja increased during the British Raj in the provinces of Bengal and Assam.

Over the years, Durga puja has become an inseparable part of Indian culture with innumerable people celebrating this festival in their own unique way while pertaining to tradition.
